The Legacy Audio Silhouette On-Wall at $6,500 per pair is a three-way loudspeaker with a remarkable 4.6-inch depth profile. It hangs on the wall like a piece of art and produces sound that would be impressive from a speaker twice its size. For homeowners who want serious audio performance without the visual footprint of traditional loudspeakers, the Silhouette is Legacy's answer.
The slim depth is achieved through careful driver selection and enclosure engineering. A 4-inch AMT folded ribbon tweeter, Legacy's signature high-frequency driver, pairs with a 7-inch graphene-filled carbon fiber midwoofer and a 10-inch woofer. A 10-inch mass-loaded passive radiator extends the bass response below the woofer's natural roll-off, producing usable output down to 42Hz without the depth that a ported enclosure would require.
The Silhouette On-Wall is designed primarily for home theater surround and side channels, but its three-way design and 42Hz bass extension make it capable enough for stereo music duties in rooms where floorstanding speakers aren't practical. In a bedroom, home office, or secondary listening space, a pair of Silhouettes mounted on the wall delivers engaging, full-bodied sound without occupying any floor space.
In home theater configurations, the Silhouette On-Wall matches tonally with Legacy's floorstanding towers thanks to the shared AMT tweeter technology. When surround effects pan from the front Focus or Aeris towers to the side Silhouettes, the tonal character remains consistent, an important detail that many home theater installations get wrong by mixing speaker brands or technologies across the surround channels.
The French cleat mounting system included with each pair provides secure, level installation on standard wall construction. At 50 pounds per speaker, the Silhouette has enough cabinet mass for confident bass reproduction but remains within the range that standard drywall-to-stud mounting can support.
At 4.6 inches deep, the Silhouette On-Wall projects less from the wall than many flat-panel televisions. For applications where deeper bass is needed, pairing the Silhouettes with a Legacy Foundation or Metro XD subwoofer fills in the bottom octave while keeping the visual installation clean and unobtrusive.
