The Legacy Audio i·V5 at $7,000 puts a complete 5.0 surround amplification solution in a single chassis: five channels of 610-watt ICEedge power handling front left, center, front right, and two surround channels. For home theater installations where simplicity and clean equipment racks matter, the i·V5 eliminates the need for multiple amplifiers while delivering the same per-channel performance as Legacy's dedicated two-channel models.
The five-channel configuration is optimized for the most common home theater layout: three front channels and two surrounds. When paired with a Legacy powered subwoofer like the Foundation or Goliath XD (which provide their own amplification for the bass channel), the i·V5 drives every other speaker in the system from a single 17.5-inch-wide, 5.8-inch-tall chassis.
Using a single multichannel amplifier for all five speakers ensures absolute channel-to-channel consistency. The amplifier modules, power supply, and internal architecture are identical for every channel. There are no variations in gain, damping factor, or sonic character between the front and surround channels, a uniformity that's difficult to achieve when mixing separate amplifiers from different production runs or manufacturers.
At 35 pounds, the i·V5 weighs less than many stereo amplifiers despite packing five channels of high-power amplification. The cool-running ICEedge modules allow enclosed rack mounting without ventilation concerns, and the 2-4 week lead time means it's one of the fastest Legacy products to ship after ordering.
