The Legacy Audio i·V4 ULTRA at $9,000 is the multichannel flagship of the ULTRA series: four channels of 610 watts at 8 ohms with 800 damping factor and 1,000 watts at 4 ohms per channel. It provides the highest per-channel performance available in a Legacy multichannel amplifier, designed for home theater front stages, bi-amping configurations, and any installation where four channels of flagship-grade amplification are required.
The four-channel ULTRA configuration is ideal for bi-amping a pair of Legacy's premium passive speakers. Using two channels per speaker (one for the bass section, one for the midrange and treble) eliminates the interaction between woofer back-EMF and the high-frequency signal path. The result is cleaner treble and more controlled bass than a single amplifier channel can provide, even at the same total power output.
In a home theater system with three front channels and a dedicated subwoofer amplifier channel, the i·V4 ULTRA provides the front-stage amplification with a spare channel for a height speaker, zone output, or second subwoofer. The 800 damping factor across all four channels ensures that every speaker in the front stage receives the same iron-fisted driver control, maintaining bass definition and dynamic accuracy during the most demanding movie soundtracks.
The i·V4 ULTRA pairs naturally with the i·V3 ULTRA or additional i·V standard amplifiers for the surround channels. This approach uses ULTRA-grade amplification where it matters most (the front stage where the ear is most critical) while using standard i·V amplification for the surrounds where the additional damping factor is less audible. Dave can design the optimal amplifier configuration for any system layout.
