The i-V2 ULTRA is the natural amplifier choice for two-channel Legacy systems. The Legacy Audio i·V2 ULTRA at $6,000 delivers the ULTRA series' flagship specifications in a stereo configuration: 610 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 1,000 watts at 4 ohms, with 800 damping factor and 127 dB dynamic range per channel. For two-channel music systems where absolute amplifier performance matters, the i·V2 ULTRA provides monoblock-grade specifications from a single chassis.
The difference between the i·V2 ULTRA and the standard i·V2 is subtle but real. The ULTRA's 800 damping factor (vs. 750) provides slightly tighter woofer control, which translates to marginally more defined bass articulation. The higher peak power at 4 ohms (1,000W vs. 660W) provides additional headroom for dynamic peaks with low-impedance speakers. For most listening situations the differences are marginal, but for systems built around Legacy's most revealing speakers (the Valor, Aeris XD, and Focus XD), the ULTRA's additional grip and headroom are worth the premium.
The i·V2 ULTRA is purpose-built for serious two-channel listening. Paired with a quality preamplifier or DAC with variable output and a pair of Legacy speakers, it forms the amplification foundation of a reference-grade music system. The balanced XLR inputs accommodate high-end preamplifiers with balanced outputs, while the RCA inputs provide compatibility with any source component.
For listeners who prefer the i·V1 ULTRA monoblock configuration but want to simplify their equipment rack, the i·V2 ULTRA delivers functionally equivalent per-channel performance in half the chassis count. The internal channel separation of 120 dB at 1kHz ensures that the two channels operate independently; stereo crosstalk is inaudible by any measurement standard.
The i·V2 ULTRA shares the standard ULTRA chassis at 17.5 by 15.6 by 5.8 inches and ships with a 2-4 week lead time. Like all Legacy amplifiers, it includes balanced and unbalanced inputs, gold-plated five-way binding posts, and the cool-running efficiency of ICEedge Class D technology.
